Brush Your Teefies
When you're in a hurry or too tired, brushing your teeth seems like a hassle. Some people don't like to brush their teeth or don't take enough time to because they don't think it is important. Well, those people could not be more wrong. Brushing your teeth is vital to your health.
When we eat foods with sugars and starches it combines with the plaque on our teeth and creates an acid which attacks the enamel on our teeth. That causes them to decay. Brushing your teeth takes the plaque off them so that won't happen. Plaque also irritates the gums which can make them swollen, tender and can cause them to bleed or have gingivitis. Flossing takes even more plaque out. Brushing your teeth keeps you from getting gum disease. Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss in adults. It can also cause heart attacks and strokes.
It is recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA) that after eating and twice a day you brush your teeth. You should brush for at least two minutes and make sure to get all around your teeth, your gums and on your tongue. Also you should always make sure to get a new toothbrush every three months or even sooner. Cleaning it frequently will keep from bacteria growing on it.
To me, the most obvious reasons you should brush your teeth are so they stay healthy and strong enough to chew food, clean and white enough to look good and fresh enough so you don't have bad breath!
